Norval Morrisseau

As part of our permanent collection in our upstairs gallery, we are proud to exhibit a selection by Norval Morrisseau. Mr. Morrisseau was a local Anishinaabeg artist who achieved worldwide recognition for his work. The painting was donated years ago by local art teacher, Margaret Lichtenstein, and hung without fanfare in a non-descript frame in the Museum office. With the assistance of a grant through the Canadian Museums Association, Preserving Canadian Treasures, the piece has been professionally cleaned by a conservator and beautifully framed to draw proper attention to the genius of this renowned artist.
