Rainy River District OPP Detachment Board Recruitment
The Rainy River District OPP Detachment Board is being established, and we are searching for a Fort Frances community member for appointment to the Board.
Starting April 1, 2024, the Community Safety and Policing Act will be in place across Ontario.
Mandate of the Board: Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) police services boards are responsible for determining objectives and priorities for police services, in consultation with the detachment commander, establishing local policies on police services, participate in the regular selection of the detachment commander, receive regular reports from the detachment commander and monitor the performance of the detachment commander.
Eligibility for Membership:
- Canadian Citizen (or landed immigrant)
- Resident of Fort Frances
- At least 18 years of age
- Not one of the following: Judge or Justice of the Peace; Member of a Police Service, Special Constable, or a First Nation Officer; someone practicing criminal law (either defense or prosecution); a Director, Officer, or Employee of any policing provider; a former member of the OPP; a former member of a police board (if you left less than a year ago)
