GIS Services

GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is computerized cartography, which is used to create, edit, store and retrieve, update, manipulate and display geographically referenced digital data. Through the use of a GIS, common mapping features such as roadways and water mains can be linked with associated tabular attributes and viewed graphically on a map.

Within the Town's GIS database, information is stored on the water distribution, storm water and sanitary sewer systems, roads network, official plan, zoning, and property information.

Additional data including AutoCAD drawings, digital CCTV camera footage, digital photos and scanned work order documents are also stored within the database. From this, information regarding any of the Town assets can be viewed almost instantaneously and maps can be created to assist with such tasks as maintenance and problem detection.

Data may be requested by contacting the Public Works office and by filling out the Town of Fort Frances Data Share Agreement (PDF)
