Cannabis Retail
On January 14, 2019 mayor and council of the Town of Fort Frances passed a resolution to opt-in to allow retail cannabis stores within the community. As part of this decision the Town subsequently passed a Municipal Cannabis Policy Statement which provides a framework for municipal government to provide input to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) on proposed retail store applications, as well as help prospective recreational cannabis retailers in their consideration of location of cannabis retail stores in The Town of Fort Frances. The Municipal Cannabis Policy Statement and associated Schedule A can be located below.
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario is the regulating authority behind retail cannabis stores in the province of Ontario. Further information on retail sales of cannabis can be found at the following link: https://www.agco.ca/cannabis/general-information
