Memorial Sports Centre Entrance Requirements

All individuals 12 years of age and older are required to provide proof of having been fully vaccinated for a minimum of 14 days to be allowed entrance into the Memorial Sports Centre. This requirement is necessary each time you attend the facility. Please have your proof of vaccination and government issued ID ready for inspection when you arrive.

Other public health requirements such as wearing a mask and social distancing must continue.

Please note: There will be a 60-day grace period beginning September 22, 2021, and ending November 20, 2021, for youth aged 12 – 17 to allow for these individuals to complete their vaccination requirements. Further to this, a 60-day grace period will be extended to individuals who turn 12 during the Provincial proof of vaccination mandate to allow them to complete the vaccination process.

The Town implemented their blanket approach to vaccination proof at the Memorial Sports Centre because there are a wide variety of activities under one roof that have varying vaccination requirements. To be able to provide a simple and consistent policy for the public and staff, it was decided that a blanket policy for the entire facility would be implemented. There are several circumstances where an individual would be both allowed and then denied using the facility depending on their activity. To avoid having staff make judgement calls and be put into difficult situations, the blanket approach, although not perfect was seen as the best alternative. The Town was informed on Tuesday September 21, 2021, that user groups could not screen their own users, so a third-party provider has been contracted to provide the screening service.
