IMPORTANT PUBLIC NOTICE
RESTRICTED FIRE ZONE (RFZ) TOTAL FIRE BAN WILL BE LIFTED AS OF 4:00 PM JULY 11, 2023 IN THE TOWN OF FORT FRANCES.
THIS MEANS A SMALL CONFINED FIRE USED TO COOK FOOD OR USED FOR RECREATIONAL PURPOSES IS PERMITTED.
REMEMBER: RESIDENTS & VISITORS WITHIN FORT FRANCES MUST ALWAYS USE EXTREME CAUTION & SUPERVISE A SMALL CONFINED FIRE AT ALL TIMES.
Our current BYLAW 27/12 requires a fire permit for any open-air burning associated with burning wood, brush, leaves and grass.
The Fire Code, Ontario Regulation 213/07, as amended, and BYLAW 27/12, as amended, gives the Chief Fire Official the authority to NOT APPROVE any OPEN-AIR BURNING, and to CANCEL all previously issued BURNING PERMITS.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Chief Fire Official has decided to prohibit the burning of all brush & wood piles, fields, leaves, and grass.
There are exceptions...
At this time the only burning permitted in the Town of Fort Frances is covered in the Town of Fort Frances BYLAW 27/12 under: 4 - WHERE PERMIT NOT REQUIRED.
