SHINE THE LIGHT ON WOMAN ABUSE AWARENESS AND PREVENTION MONTH

The Town of Fort Frances has proclaimed the month of November 2022 as

“Shine the Light on Woman Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month”

Shine the Light is a campaign that was initiated in London, Ontario by the London Abused Women’s Centre to increase public awareness of the ongoing issue of woman abuse.

The campaign’s signature colour purple is used to symbolize courage, survival, and honour.

November 15, 2022 will be the official “Wear Purple Day” to stand in solidarity with women who have experienced and endured intimate partner violence and abuse.

 Thank you to Riverside Community Counselling Services, who will decorate the Fort Frances Town Square with purple lights, posters and a campaign banner, for the month of November.
