WHEREAS, Shine the Light is a campaign that was initiated in London, Ontario by the London Abused Women’s Centre to increase public awareness of the ongoing issue of woman abuse;
WHEREAS, the "Shine the Light on Woman Abuse" campaign is dedicated to shedding light on the darkness of woman abuse, highlighting an unwavering commitment to prevention, support and education;
WHEREAS, The campaign’s signature colour purple is used to symbolize courage, survival, and honour and has come to symbolize the fight to end woman abuse”

Whereas, the poppy has stood as a symbol of Remembrance since 1921, our visual pledge to never forget those Canadians who have fallen in war and military operations; and
Whereas, from the last Friday of October to Remembrance Day, poppies blossom on lapels and collars to inspire Canadians to Remember the many blessings and freedoms Canadians enjoy today as a result of the sacrifices of those who serve their country; and

WHEREAS October 15 to 21, 2023 is Local Government Week in Ontario, an opportunity to reflect on the vital services delivered by municipal governments; and
WHEREAS municipal governments play a vital role in helping to define the character, priorities, physical make up, and quality of life of communities across Ontario;
Civic Centre Closure
Due to ongoing works, the Civic Centre will be closed today (Wednesday, October 4th, 2023) from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. We apologize for the inconvenience.
The Civic Centre main entrance may be inaccessible for the rest of the week. The public may use the North doors of the Church Street entrance to access the Civic Centre during regular business hours.
